Russia’s deputy defence minister says military operations around two cities in Ukraine will be reduced.

 

Moscow claims the decision to scale back activity around Kyiv and Chrnihiv is to “increase mutual trust” in peace discussions – and create the conditions for an agreement.

 

Sky’s defence and security analyst Michael Clarke says Moscow’s aims in the capital, Kyiv, have been met with resistance.
